WOMEN’S COLLEGE SWIMMING: Koert wins 3 events in Lenoir-Rhyne’s loss

HICKORY – Junior Alyx Koert won three events for Lenoir-Rhyne University’s women on Friday night, but Mars Hill defeated the host Bears 153-109 in swimming.

Koert won the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyles — in five minutes, 30.20 seconds and 11:02.99, respectively — and also won the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.53).

The Bears’ 200-yard freestyle team (Jessica Myers, Cora Dodson, Addison Herndon and Lauren Rutherford – won in 1:45.91.

LRU next competes at Emory University in Atlanta on Nov. 4, a field that will include Catawba, Georgia Southern and Wingate.
