HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Mustangs clip Knights, win second game of season

DENVER, N.C. – On the 50th homecoming football night in East Lincoln High history, the Mustangs did not disappoint on Friday night.

Getting 160 yards of total offense from quarterback Chase Jones, the Mustangs beat Lake Norman Charter 28-7 to open the South Fork 2A schedule for both schools.

East Lincoln, winning its second straight game, improved to 2-3 overall and left the Knights at 3-3 overall.

The Mustangs led 21-0 by halftime.

Chandler Jones, who ran for nearly 90 yards, had a 12-yard scoring run for East Lincoln, and Jourdan Baxley had a 9-yard scoring run.

Chase Jones threw a TD pass to Lucas McConnell and McConnell added a rushing TD.

East Lincoln will be at home Friday night at 7:30 p.m. to face conference foe and archrival Lincolnton, while Lake Norman Charter will be at home the same night, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff, to face North Lincoln.
