CHAPEL HILL – Due to winter weather in the Winston-Salem area and anticipated dangerous conditions for spectators earlier in the day, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) has delayed the start of Saturday’s 4AA and 4A football state championship games at Wake Forest’s BB&T Field.

The start of the 4AA game between Wake Forest and Mallard Creek has been delayed three hours and will begin at 3 p.m., and the 4A game between Scotland County and Harding University will now kick off at 7 p.m.

Sinclair Broadcasting still plans to broadcast the games, but the TV schedule and listings by market released earlier this week has been amended.

All games will be streamed live on the NFHS Network, where subscriptions are $9.95 per month and subscribers will have access to content from all over the country, including North Carolina.

NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker said in an NCHSAA press release: “Based on the reports we received from the staff at Wake Forest and our conversations in the office, we feel that it is in the best interest of all participants, especially the spectators, to delay the games at Wake Forest until the temperature rises, and the staff at the stadium has a chance to prepare the stadium to host everyone in a safe manner.”
