Notes: Freedom extends its win streak to 13 games … McDowell has lost two straight games and seven of its last eight … The Patriots win a league title for the second time in three seasons, the fifth time in head coach Casey Rogers’ 13 seasons, and go unbeaten in their conference for the eighth time since the 1978-79 season … Freedom beat McDowell 92-55 on Jan. 22 in Morganton … Freedom has limited opponents to 42 or fewer points in 10 games this season … One more win makes this Freedom team the 14th to reach 24 wins in 41 years.

Notes: Alexander Central snaps a two-game losing streak … South Caldwell’s losing streak continues at nine games in a row … The Cougars shot 53.8 percent, including 64.7 in the second half, and the Spartans shot 38.7 percent … Lowrance had seven rebounds for Alexander Central and Piercy and Isaiah Kirbvy led South Caldwell with five each … The Spartans hit six 3-pointers, three by Avery Raynor … Walker hit three 3-pointers for Alexander Central, which made eight … There were only 24 free throws shot, 13 by South Caldwell … Alexander Central outscored South Caldwell 24-8 in the paint … The Spartans nipped the Cougars 46-44 in Hudson on Jan. 22 for their only league win, avoiding their seventh O-fer conference play record in school history.
