PEARL, Ms. –Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal pitched one inning on Wednesday night, registering his second hold of the season as the Mississippi Braves nipped visiting Montgomery (Ala.) 4-2 in a Double A game.

Deal, a left-handed reliever making his 30th appearance of the year (27 in relief), pitched the sixth inning. He gave up one hit and struck out one.

Throwing strikes on 10 of his 15 pitches to four batters in front of 1,537, Deal is at 50 strikeouts in 56 innings pitched and has a 3-2 record and ERA of 4.34.

After 117 career pro games, Deal is 23-17 with an ERA of 3.31 and 330 strikeouts in 373 innings pitched.

The Braves won’t make the playoffs in the Southern League, closing the regular season with home games against Montgomery on Thursday through Sunday.

They are 31-32 in the second half standings and 60-72 overall.
