The Mississippi Braves won the Double-A South’s South Division title on Sunday with a 2-1 home victory over Montgomery (Ala.), taking the championship series three games to two.
The Braves finished 67-44, facing Montgomery — second in the regular season and eight games behind the Braves.
Deal pitched in Game 3 of the championship series in relief. He was the sixth pitcher in an 11-9 home win that gave Mississippi a two games-to-one lead.

A former star at Bandys High, he completed his fourth pro season (there was no minor league season in 2020) at 3-2 with an ERA of 3.77 in 23 games. He made 17 starts, working 88 1/3 innings and striking out 72.
