HICKORY – The Hickory Crawdads have promoted Douglas Locascio to assistant general manager.
He has previously served the Texas Rangers’ Class A baseball affiliate as Executive Director of Sales and Merchandising, the Crawdads said in a press release.
Hickory opens the 2019 homew season on April 11 in a South Atlantic League (SAL) game against Kannapolis at L.P. Frans Stadium.

The Crawdads’ season opens on April 4 at Lakewood (N.J.).
As assistant GM, Locascio will continue to oversee ticketing, merchandise, corporate sales, groups and other game day operations.
“I am excited about this new chapter and am looking forward to the future with the Crawdads,” Locascio said in the press release. “I have been privileged to be a part of this organization for a number of years and I would like to thank our General Manager Mark Seaman and the Texas Rangers for trusting me with this opportunity.”
While in Hickory, Locascio has been an active member of the community. He’s an ambassador to the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, serves on the Hickory Metro Sports Commission (HMSC), Catawba County Partnership for Children and Hickory Young Professionals (HYP). He was selected as one of HYP’s Top 10 Under 40 in 2016.
Originally from the Tampa (Fla.) area, Locascio attended Campbell University and earned a degree in Sports Management. Prior to joining the Crawdads, he completed internships with the Wilmington Sharks baseball team and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Locascio joined the Crawdads organization in March 2010 as an interim ticket operations manager but was hired on full-time after the season as Director of Ticket Operations and Merchandising. He was promoted to Executive Director of Sales and Merchandising after the 2014 season.
Game times for 2019 season set
For the seventh consecutive season, the Crawdads will have an earlier start time for select days of the week in the first half, the club announced.
During the first half of the SAL schedule, games on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday will begin at 6:30 p.m. (all times EST), games on Thursday and Friday will start at 7 p.m. and Sunday games will begin at 3 p.m.
After the SAL All-Star break in June, games times for all Monday and Saturday games shifts to 7 p.m., with Sunday games at 5 p.m.
Two Christian Concerts are scheduled this season (5 p.m. starts) – April 27 and July 27, both Saturdays, and the lineup of artists is to be announced.
There are four day games scheduled this season at L.P. Frans Stadium – Education Day (April 17 at 10:30 a.m.), Senior Day (May 13 at 10:30 a.m.), Business Person Lunch Special (June 5 at 10:30 a.m.) and Supper Camp Day Games (June 26 at noon).
