LEXINGTON, Ky. — Joe Dudek hit his first home run of the season and drove in two runs and Manny Olloque had two hits and two RBIs to lead Lexington (Ky.) past the visiting Hickory Crawdads 7-1 on Monday night.
Lexington (20-26) won the opening game of a three-game South Atlantic League (SAL) series behind starter Travis Eckert, who went six innings. He gave up four hits, one run, walked two and struck out four.
Hickory (18-26) had five hits but no player with more than one. The Crawdads scored their only run in the fourth inning.
Lexington had a four-run second inning to gain control against Hickory starter Jonathan Hernandez (2-4), who gave up eight hits in six innings, six runs (all earned) with one walk and seven strikeouts.
The series continues on Tuesday night in Lexington, Ky., and the teams play at 12:35 a.m. game on Wednesday.
The Crawdads will play Asheville on Thursday night at L.P. Frans Stadium to begin a homestand.
