HICKORY – Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) announced Monday it has signed a women’s volleyball recruit from Virginia.
The Red Hawks have landed Siena Naotala of Menchville High in Newport News, Va., bringing their 2018-19 recruiting class to 16 signees and one transfer.
“What an exciting late addition Siena is,” CVCC head volleyball coach Shannon Hudson said in a press release. “She’s an all-around great athlete who I believe will make an immediate impact this fall.
“Her strength, versatility and commanding presence at the net are tremendous assets that Siena brings to the program.”
Naotala, who is 5-foot-10, was named first team all-district and all-conference and a second-team all-state selection in the Division 5A ranks last season at Menchville.
She played both middle hitter and outside hitter for the Monarchs (16-8).
The Red Hawks are coming off a 28-9 record that included going 15-0 in Region X and winning a regular season title for the sixth straight season.
