BARIUM SPRINGS – North Lincoln High tripped South Iredell 4-3 on Thursday night in North Piedmont 3A-4A baseball to knock the Vikings out of a three-way tie for second place.
Winning back-to-back games for the first time since early March, the Knights (9-5, 6-5) are in fifth place.
South Iredell (10-6, 8-4) entered the game sharing second place with Alexander Central and Mooresville and fell into a tie with Mooresville for third after Alexander Central beat the Blue Devils 1-0 in Mooresville via a no-hit pitching effort by two Cougars hurlers on Thursday.
North Lincoln has a makeup conference game against North Iredell on the road on Monday and meets Lincolnton on Tuesday at North Lincoln at 7 p.m.
