BAKERSVILLE – Patton High won back-to-back baseball games for the first time this season on Thursday, romping past host Mitchell County 16-6.
The Panthers had beaten Watauga 6-2 in a Northwestern 3A-4A game on Wednesday night, and their 16 runs against Mitchell County is a season high.
Patton scored runs in every inning en route to improving to 5-13.
The Panthers are at home next week for the Causby Classic, an eight-team tournament that also features Bandys, Freedom, Chase, R-S Central, Draughn, West Caldwell and East Burke.
On Monday, the opening day, Patton will play East Burke.
