HELP US CELEBRATE!

In memory of my mom, Betty H. Blackburn

Dear readers,

Please take a moment out of your busy day to note a special birthday for HobbsDailyReport.com.

Our website begins its 10th year today via friends who encouraged me to continue what I have now been doing for 50 years – covering high school sports in this state.

I have worked the last nine years with two companies that love prep sports in Alexander, Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Rutherford and Watauga counties.

Please reach out to Dwayne Wilson Insurance and Burke Mortuary, who have been with us since Day 1 to assure you can read HobbsDailyReport.com for FREE.

As we start our 10th year, there are nearly 9,000 posts. Once a post goes up, it stays up, so use the search tab to look for articles — by sports, school or student-athlete — that might interest you.

At last glance, we have moved well past 2 million page views and continue to draw 3,000 or more each month.

Although I announced earlier I was retiring at the end of this school year, I am amending that to retiring from fill-time writing and daily reporting only.

If the Lord is willing, I intend to run HobbsDailyReport.com as a website where fans can find daily schedule, nightly scores and updated standings, etc. for four conference and 32 schools.

I have so many people to thank, especially Dwayne Wilson and Michael Burke, my website designer Chad Austin and my family.

Since our website launched, i have lost my middle brother (David), my oldest brother (Randy) and my mother (Betty) and have consistent contact with only my nephew (David Jr.).

I am blessed to have my wife (Myra), my rock, and our family in the Phillipines — a brother-in-law, sis-in-law,  my father-in-law plus a new nephew (just walking at 1) and nieces ages 13 and 10. We have a large family and built a home there in 2023.

Again, thanks for taking the time to read this. I am not out as much because of losing mobility but work on the website every day.

I welcome your comments (good or for improvements) at chobbs001@att.net.

Please follow us as we continue to try to help provide exposure for student-athletes and help you follow high school sports in this region.

Best wishes,

Chris Hobbs
