MAIDEN – The Bunker Hill at Maiden junior varsity high school football game scheduled for Thursday night will be played instead on Wednesday night.
Bunker Hill athletic director Damon Creamer said via email the schools have decided to play at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night at Maiden.
He indicated a decision of the varsity game – Maiden at Bunker Hill, scheduled Friday at 7:30 p.m. – will be made on Wednesday afternoon.
The moves come after forecasts have developed calling for rain on Friday.
Bunker Hill’s JV is 1-0 after winning 14-6 in overtime at St. Stephens last Thursday. The Bears’ JV opener on Aug. 17, against North Lincoln, was suspended by rain (no decision yet on if it will resume at some point this season).
The Maiden JVs are 2-0 with wins of 24-0 over Fred T. Foard and 12-8 over East Burke.
In varsity football, the Bears are 0-2 and the Blue Devils are 2-0.

Bears add soccer matches: Creamer also reported the Bears have added JV and varsity soccer matches for Sept. 18, when they previously had no opponent.
South Iredell will visit Bunker Hill with the JVs playing and the varsity to follow at 6:30 p.m.
