first Cardinals team to championship battle

Trent Lowman (center) celebrates East Surry High winning a West 1AA football title on Friday night with his brother, Kyle (left,  Bandys assistant), and his dad, Randy (right, retired) at Starmount. The Cardinals (11-3) defeated the Rams 44-27, setting up a state 1AA title game against Tarboro (14-0) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at N.C. State. Trent Lowman was a star quarterback at Bandys and also an assistant coach before taking over as Trojans head coach when his dad retired.  He left Bandys after five seasons  to become East Surry’s head coach before the 2018 season began./EAST SURRY PHOTO
