HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Maiden girls go for third straight win over Bandys

DENVER, N.C – Several published facts regarding high school basketball games being played Tuesday night are inaccurate.

The correct information is provided via research and the files of HobbsDailyReport.com:

BANDYS AT MAIDEN GIRLS

  • Since winning 26 or more games in six consecutive seasons (26, 27, 28, 27, 31, 26), the Bandys girls won 27 games in the two seasons that followed, 2015-16 and 2016-17.
  • Bandys has not won 23 consecutive games at Maiden. Maiden defeated Bandys in the first round of last year’s Southern District 7 Athletic 2A tournament at Maiden. Bandys’ win streak at Maiden prior to that was nine games.
  • Maiden has won back-to-back games over Bandys, beating the Trojans at Bandys and also beating them in the first round of the conference tournament at Maiden last season.
  • Maiden, 21-8 last season, did not reach the third round of the state playoffs for the first time. The Blue Devils’ 2002-03 team lost to Thomasville in a sectional final via a first-round bye, second-round victory and the game against Thomasville was in the third round.

ST. STEPHENS AT SOUTH IREDELL BOYS

  • St. Stephens’ win total over the previous three seasons is 21.
