Cavs join Maiden, Bandys, Newton-Conover
as teams impacted this season by COVID-19

In volleyball, e-mail each of the match scores and stat leaders with first and last names and any highlights. In cross country, send top 10 finishers with first and last name and which school they run for and final team scores. We’ll publish a roundup each night with items we receive, indicating who provided the information, and we’d be glad to publish any photos (with IDs) and credit the person who shot the photo. Regular reporting will enable us to provide nightly volleyball standings.

ICARD – East Burke High’s volleyball team is under quarantine and has rescheduled four matches.
The Cavs will not play Northwestern Foothills 2A matches originally scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, Dec. 15 and Dec. 17.
East Burke is the fourth Greater Hickory area school forced to take a break in volleyball, following Maiden, Bandys and Newton-Conover.
Maiden returned to playing on Monday and Bandys is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday at West Lincoln.
East Burke has made the following schedule changes:
— Wednesday at Draughn, now Dec. 23 with a 10 a.m. start.
— Thursday at West Caldwell, now Dec. 28
— Next Tuesday at West Iredell, now Jan. 5.
— Thursday, Dec. 17 versus Patton, now Jan. 7.
The Northwestern Foothills 2A is playing a 14-match schedule that was expected to end with matches on Jan. 4.
So far, East Burke at West Iredell has been moved to Jan. 5 and Patton at East Burke on Jan. 7 would end the regular season.
